Helen Marcou

Bakehouse Studio
Melbourne, Australia
Helen Marcou is a Live Music activist from Melbourne, Australia.

Helen and her partner Quincy McLean own and founded the iconic Bakehouse Studios, which has been recognized internationally as a live music landmark and cultural incubator for over 25 years.

In 2010 they began grassroots activist movement SLAM (Save Live Australia's Music) in response to government regulation that was crippling the music scene. Over 20,000 musicians and fans marched through Melbourne demanding change, an unprecedented event described as 'the largest cultural rally in Australia's history". This was seen as the beginning of Live Music Policy in Australia.
Since then, Helen has been at the helm of legislative changes that have cemented Melbourne as a global music city.
